Committees

General Operating Procedures

- A Staff Council member may join any standing or ad hoc committee.
- The chair of any standing or ad hoc committee will be chosen and appointed by the Executive Board. It is the responsibility of the chair of the committee to recruit membership to the committee.
- Meetings of standing and ad hoc committees are held once a month, unless the committee members agree to a different schedule.
- Reports of committee progress will be announced at each general meeting and in the appropriate publications.
- Minutes of meetings will be kept and submitted to the secretary for filing.
- Requests for financial assistance are to be submitted to the Executive Board for approval.
- Requests for action, or issues which the committee wants communicated to the chancellor, are to be submitted to the Executive Board for approval.

Standing Committees
Membership in a standing committee is voluntary and is established at general meetings, although new members may join any time. Membership is for one year, ending July 31.

Bylaws/Policy Review Committee.

Reviews proposed changes to the personnel policies and drafts recommended responses; reviews and proposes revisions to the Staff Council at UCSF bylaws.

Editorial/Publicity Committee.

Assists the editor in suggesting and researching topics and in writing articles; coordinates the publicity, communication, and distribution to the general campus of information regarding the Staff Council at UCSF and its organization, activities, and programs.

Staff Welfare Committee.

Reviews the status of nonrepresented staff well-being and proposes policies or activities for its betterment; reviews current mechanisms of valuing and recognizing staff contributions to the mission of the University and to the surrounding community and makes suggestions for improvement.

Ad Hoc Committees

Any Staff Council member may recommend the formation of an ad hoc committee to address issues of concern to the membership. Membership is voluntary, but will consist of a minimum of three Staff Council members. Each ad hoc committee will define its objectives, scope, and anticipated ending date of their activities.

Campus Committees
Staff Council members interested in serving on campus committees may contact the Executive Board. Members selected to serve on campus committees from recommendations of the Executive Board will report at the general meetings and submit newsworthy items to the editor. Members are appointed for one year, or for the duration of the committee, if time-limited.
